Two people’s awareness rallies were by Campaign for Women and Child Rights (CWCR) on January 30, 2019. The first rally started from Azad Nagar and covered all six project locations while the second rally started from Hasmat Nagar and covered all seven project locations. Over 400 people, including women, children and members of civil society, participated in the rallies.

The rallyists raised slogans like har bacche ka hai adhikar, roti khel padhai pyar (every child has right to food, games, education and love), baal mazdoori band karo (eradicate child labour), hum sab padhne jaayenge (we all will go to study), ladka ladki ek saman (boys and girls are equal). The rallyists were addressed by leaders and team workers.

Parents of child labour were requested to help in elimination of child labour by sending their children to non-formal and formal schools. The speakers spread the message for protection of child rights by eliminating child labour in glass and bangle industry. They said the child labour were not enjoying their basic rights and were forced to work in glass and bangle industry due to poor social and economic conditions of households.

The project intervention of livelihood promotion was also shared during the rally. The participants were told how families of freed child labour could befit through SHGs, non-formal education and other social and cultural issues. The charter of demand related to education rights was shared with government.
